Mind Body Therapies

Body Mind Integration in Biological Medicine

In ancient traditions, healing implies the establishment of a sense of wholeness. This awareness of wholeness encompasses the unity of body, mind and spirit. Thus, biological medicine practiced at the Paracelsus Clinic aims to be healing-oriented by involving the whole person and all aspects of life.

Besides the Paracelsus medical and physical therapy departments, the Body Mind department represents this very important aspect of holistic treatment, addressing the full range of physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual and environmental influences that affect a person’s health.

The therapists of the Body Mind department focus on all aspects of lifestyle and will concentrate on therapies that meet an individual’s specific needs, emphasizing diet, breathing and trauma therapy and making use of all psychologically and psycho-kinesiologically appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.

Self-care is at the core of biological medicine, and especially we at Paracelsus Body Mind try to empower patients by encouraging them to play an active role in their treatment, recognizing that lifestyle and psychological tools for self-care are crucial to optimal health.

Nutritional therapy and lifestyle advice

Modern diet and lifestyle make it increasingly necessary to detoxify and relieve the body of its toxic burden. A hypoallergenic and natural diet can significantly improve metabolism, performance of the endocrine glands and, above all, improve the detoxing ability of the liver and kidneys! The result is a boost in the self-healing capacity of the body.

For the most part, chronic disease is caused by continuous improper nutrition, especially due to protein-rich, high-sugar and refined, processed foods.

The food we eat connects our outer world with the inner world via the mucus membrane of our gastro-intestinal tract. Our inner world consists of approx. 20% organs and 80% water. This 80% of “tissue fluid” nourishes our organs. If our body tissue is supplied with “tissue-toxic” food, medications and negative thoughts, then the surrounding organs are poorly supplied. The same holds true for the gastrointestinal tract and the microbiota. For this reason, a healthy diet is a vital part of maintaining or regaining health.

Paracelsus Clinic Lustmühle has important diagnostic procedures that test the microbiome, the digestive tract, and food allergies. We assess your nutrition and advise you on how to live healthily with simple means. This includes practical tips for everyday life, lifestyle routines, recipes, and shopping tips.

Mind Body Medicine

Mind-Body Medicine encompasses a variety of techniques and practices aimed at strengthening awareness of the connection between the mind and body and activating the body’s self-healing powers. These include relaxation exercises, meditation, mindfulness, visualization, breathing techniques, and cognitive behavioural therapy.

By examining the interactions between thoughts, emotions, and physical symptoms, a physician specializing in Mind-Body Medicine can help patients reduce stress, cope with emotional burdens, and improve health and well-being. This holistic approach can help treat both acute and chronic illnesses and enhance quality of life.

Psycho – Kinesiology

In my kinesiology sessions, we work with the energy system, based on Meridian Teaching and acupressure from Chinese medicine. When energies flow, the body’s self-healing and self-regulation forces are activated.

On the mental and emotional level, we are free to live out our full potential. In a therapy session, the client experiences new possibilities. We are totally thinking in this dual world. That means there is day and there is night. There is pain and there is joy. If internal (within our own body-mind-soul-system) all possibilities are open, the system is then self-regulating, based on the Ying Yang principle. When internal doors are closed, that can be because of a shock, trauma, an OP, accident etc., it becomes more difficult to regulate yourself healthily.

So with muscle we find out, where and why energy is blocked and what information is needed to get back into a free flow. We are not only carrying the problem in us, but also the solution. In a session, the client has to perceive space physiologically, as it would be if the energies flow and all possibilities are available. Thereafter, implementation in daily life is easier and more natural.

Therapies for the autonomic nervous system

Our holistic approach to health includes a variety of therapies aimed at supporting and balancing the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system regulates a variety of vital functions in the body, including heart rate, respiration, digestion, and stress responses.

For example, we offer relaxation techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, breathing exercises, and meditation, all aimed at placing the autonomic nervous system in a state of rest and regeneration.

Acupuncture is another therapy option that can influence the autonomic nervous system by balancing energy flows in the body and promoting the release of endorphins, which can serve as natural painkillers and stress relievers.

For patients suffering from dysfunctions of the autonomic nervous system, such as autonomic neuropathies or fatigue syndromes like Long Covid, we also offer innovative treatment methods such as Intermittent Hypoxia-Hyperoxia Training (IHHT). This method aims to regulate the autonomic nervous system and optimize oxygen delivery in the body, which can be particularly effective in treating fatigue syndromes and Long Covid.
